The elliptical path of Via Torta, which pass through the heart of Florence between Via Verdi, Via dell’Anguillara, Borgo de ‘Greci and Piazza Peruzzi ending at the beginning of Via de’ Benci, delineates the area where stood the Roman amphitheater of Florence between 124 and 130 AC. A curved street, once named as Via Torcicoda. Here is born Cucina Torcicoda, a new proposal in Florence catering field, an innovative concept realized by Luigi Fragola Architects, architectural and interior design studio.
The project extends over a thousand square meters giving life to five different buildings, each with its own vocation and atmosphere: restaurant, tavern, pizzeria, the typical product shop, ice cream parlor.
The restaurant is characterized by warm colors of furniture, richness of the fabrics and the research of details. The historic Florentine classic architecture blends to the contemporary design of furniture creating a perfect balance between past and present.
The tavern, characterized by gentle and delicate tones, is a comfortable and friendly space, enriched with whimsical decor and elegant lighting.
Descending from the tavern, passing through the well-stocked wine cellar, it is possible to reach the exclusive priveè: an elegant living room with warm and enchanting tones.
The pizzeria, featuring vaulted ceilings as well as clean and modern design furnishings, is an authentic and refined space that offers the true Neapolitan pizza cooked in wood oven.
The ice cream parlor reflects in the refined choice of materials and in the accurate design of the furniture, the attention of the designers on the research of high quality solutions.
The typical food and wine products shop welcome the customer in a fascinating and inspiring atmosphere, rich of historical traditions and vocations.
Cucina Torcicoda is a unique project characterized by high quality, authenticity and research.
In the historical center of Florence, in a noble palace of ancient medieval origins, the architecture and design Luigi Fragola Architects Studio has created an ironic renovation project of an apartment.
Throughout history the building has undergone some transformations that have compromised its historical value. The project has therefore foreseen a conservative restoration in accordance with the classicism of the building. Spaces, provided with simple lines and rigorous geometries furniture, reproduce a classic taste with clear modern style through the use of soft colors and a trompe l’oeil decoration that recalls the Florentine Renaissance frescoes.
Regained the classicism an rigor of the spaces, the client has expressed the desire to enrich the apartment with ironic motifs and colorful accents. The request has been fully satisfied adding contemporary artworks especially selected to create a catchy pop atmosphere. Thus, the rigor of classical modern style is mixed with the boldness and the irony of important contemporary Florentine and international artists artworks.
In the lobby, an elegant and understated console is decorated with design objects and prints of the photographer Olivia Magris, while a huge mirror and the two Panton chair by Vitra define an essential but clearly ambitious space, from which it is immediately understandable the general mood of the house.
In the living room, the neutral simplicity of the padded is in contrast with the color of Simon Miller artwork and the boldness of Clet Abraham sculpture. Above the fireplace frame of rigid style, that has been redesigned with pure and essential lines and covered with stone, has been added the sharp print of Luigi Fragola and Francesca Guicciardini.
In the dining room, the ironic sculpture of Clet Abraham (parody of the coffee machine), overlooking this space, animates the simplicity of the furniture. Above the console the biting artwork of the Australian artist Simon Miller completes the original atmosphere of this room.
The kitchen of clear classical style, is pervaded by the pink press of Luigi Fragola and Francesca Guicciardini that reflects on the Carrara marble top creating a dramatic pop effect.
In the master bedroom the elegant and refined furnishings have been custom-designed, the artworks here included are realized by Francesca Guicciardini and Olivia Magris.
The opposition between the austerity and rigor of the classical contemporary style and the irony and color of biting and provocative elements, has allowed us to create powerful and provocative atmospheres that represent the irony of living required by the client.
